Black Eyed Susan, also known as Sweet Coneflower is a long-lived perennial with deep roots, large clumps of deep green foliage and bright yellow blooms with dark brown dome-shaped centers in the middle. These beauties thrive in the intense heat of summer into the early fall and have a very nice scent when flowering that is somewhat similar to Sweet Grass. Also called Sweet Black-Eyed Susan, the blooms provide a buoyant sea of color all summer long and attract many bees, songbirds and butterflies who frequent the flowers throughout the days. Their flowers make wonderful cut bouquets that light up the table.
